Planning and Developing an E-Learning Course with Articulate

I'll be doing a workshop on the basics of e-learning development for the SC Midlands Chapter of ASTD. In short, I'll be providing some simple project management techniques to help the novice e-learning developer take charge of his or her projects. For more details, see the ASTD Midlands website.

New Articulate Player Skin Released

At long last, I'm happy to announce the release of my first fully-featured Articulate Presenter player skin. This is an enhanced version of the Tabtronic community skin available for free on the Articulate Community site.

Here are some of the highlights:

Custom Skin for Articulate Presenter: Tabtronic Basic

At long last, releasing my first custom player skin for Articulate Presenter.

Flash Widget: On-slide Exit Button for Articulate Presenter

Two Flash widgets to insert into your Articulate Presenter presentations to allow learners to exit the course.

HowTo: Create a "click-to-advance" effect in Articulate Presenter

Who needs a "next" button? Make it easier for your learners to advance through your course by clicking anywhere on a slide (and make building the course easy on yourself).

Good site for vector icons

In putting together an Articulate Presenter custom player skin, I was looking for a good source of royalty-free vector icons. I came across Web Design Blog. The site offers up a ton of freebies and you can also nab a commercial license for his premium stuff (and there's a lot to choose from) for a mere $20US. Well worth it, in my opinion.

Flash Widget: On-slide Toolbar Button

Here is a useful widget for use with Articulate Presenter that extend the functionality of your courses.

Flash Widget: Background audio/playlist mute button for Articulate Presenter

This widget allows a learner to mute your background music while leaving the audio narration intact. It's designed to be inserted into the logo or presenter panel of the Articulate course player, although it can live quite happily on a slide.

This too is available over at eLearning Enhanced. Here's an overview:
